2012 Ryder Cup

What a sickening loss. I’m embarrassed to have the flag of my country on the chests of the guys that choked the cup away. Credit to the Euro team for putting the pressure on, but the American team folded at the first sign of a challenge…and I feel they lost more than the Euros won.

I’ll always remember Bubba – teeing off to the cheers of the crowd. One of the coolest things I’ve seen in golf. Will also remember Poulter’s performance on Saturday. We need more guys like him on the US team if we want to win this thing again…

For next Ryder Cup:
– Let’s purge the older generation from the 2014 team. No more Phil, Tiger, Furyk, etc…Load up on younger guys on tour, who are not accustomed to losing and who will embrace being underdogs.
– Watching the post match reactions from Davis Love III was almost as galling as watching the team lose. He always struck me as a player with immense talent, who was cool if he just finished in the top 10 each week…never really hated losing. And that rubbed off on his team.
– With that in mind – I’d make Keegan Bradley the next US captain. Or someone like Jack Nicklaus, Larry Nelson or Tom Watson – who have the gravitas and respect of their team, and then just stay out of their way and let them play. The US Ryder Cup captaincy has become an exercise in over-thinking.
